The Polish violinist, conductor, chamber musician and arranger, Jan Lewtak, graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in the violin class of Professor Zenona Brzewskiego and Professor Mirosława Ławrynowicza. He has participated violin master-classes and musical classes in Poland and abroad, as well as in the “Week of Talents” Festival in Tarnów. He is the winner of many violin competitions and of the Radio and Television Committee Award.
Since 1982, he is a member of the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician he performed in Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the UK and Japan. He has made numerous recordings and archives. In 1993 he made a concert tour of Japan with the Warsaw String Quartet, related to the promotion of Polish music CD, recorded by the band for the Japanese label JVC. Many times even performed in Japan as concertmaster of the Warsaw Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist he has performed in Germany, Spain, Japan, the USA and the United Arab Emirates. In 2000, he performed in Japan, Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons.
He has also collaborated with Polish Radio Music Department, receiving the Radio and Television Committee Award for his cycle of broadcasts about Paganini’s 24 Caprices Op. 1 for solo violin. He has made numerous recordings for record labels and radio archives.
Jan Lewtak is the author of many arrangements for chamber orchestra. For the Frédéric Chopin Year, he was commissioned by PWM Edition to arrange F. Chopin’s both concertos for piano and string orchestra. He is the founder and the Artistic Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, with whom in 2003 he recorded in 2003 A. Vivaldi's Four Seasons, conducted by Antoni Wit. In 2008 he directed the Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra in a recording of the same work for Lipinski Sound label with Mariusz Patyra as soloist. |
