The German coloratura soprano, Eva Maria Leonardy [Leonardi], studied violin at the Grundschule. Already in 3rd class, after her first appearance with the "3 Köen`gen" by Peter Cornelius, she decided leave her violin studies and to study instead singing with Professor Siegmund Nimsgern in Saarbrücken. Voice studies in Karlsruhe with Professor Christiane Hampe completed her musical basic training. Courses with Marius van Altena, Barbara Schlick and Emma Kirkby helped likewise to shape her voice further, as well as the inspirations of working with Christoph Prégardien.
Eva Maria Leonardy has made herself a name in Europe with oratorios, Lieder recitals, broadcast, CD recordings, radio and television programmes, and with appearances at numerous renowned music festivals. The emphasis of her musical work is found in the interpretation of oratorios (e.g. Christ by L.v. Beethoven, Carmina Burana by C. Orff, many works of J.S. Bach and George Frideric Handel), and Lieder recitals with a wide literature spectrum, ranging from Hildegard von Bingen, up to the interpretation of modern music, such as Paul Hindemith's Marienleben. In addition, as an independent singing teacher, she leads her own, supraregional singing studio STIMM-T and directs voice at the Domsingschule and at the Bischöflichen Priesterseminar Trier. |
