The German bas-baritone, Alban Lenzen, studied, after the high-school, first physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in his hometown of Munich. After completing his degree, he began in 1997 his musical education at the local Musikhochschule in the subjects of concerts and opera singing. He received, among others lessons from Professor Wolfgang Brendel, Professor Helmut Deutsch and Professor Hanns-Martin Schneidt and performed as a soloist until his completion of his studies in summer 2002 in numerous stage productions of the Bayrischen Theaterakademie.
After three years of engagement at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven, he was ewngaged since 2006 for another two years at the Landestheater Coburg and since 2008 he works as freelance. Guest appearances have taken in, inter alia, at the Stadttheater Freiburg, the Theater Chemnitz and Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich. This season he appears at the Landesbühnen Sachsen as Kaspar and at Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern as Masetto. His repertoire includes also roles like Figaro (W.A. Mozart), Leporello, Mustafà (Italian), Mephisto (Charles Gounod), Escamillo, Ford, Kühleborn (Undine) and Plumkett (Martha).
As a concert singer Alban Lenzen has in recent years sung numerous solo parts of popular oratorio literature, and always can be heard in premieres of contemporary composers and performances throughout the German speaking countries. In addition, he has devoted himself regularly to Lied, particularly the works of Franz Schubert and Hugo Wolf. He currently lives in Munich, Germany. |
