The German choral conductor and organist, Markus Leidenberger, received during his high school education, a C-Kanotor training. After high school, he began in 1977 to study at the Kirchenmusikschule in Esslingen, which he completed 1981 with the B-Kantor degree. After his community service time Leidenberger, studied from 1983 to 1985 at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen and passed the the A-exam. During the entire period of his studies he aleardy conducted several choirs. Afyer advanicing to the A-exam, in addition to his Kantor and organist studies, he studied at the Diakonissenanstalt in Stuttgart in conducting, choral conducting and organ.
Markus Leidenberger bacame 1988 Kantor and organist at the Paul-Gerhardt-Kirche in Stuttgart and directed a chamber orchestra. At the same time, he was a lecturer at the Trossinger Hochschule, organized child singing weeks, workshops and was active in the Verband der Evangelischen Kirchenmusik (Association of Evangelical Church) in Württemberg. Together with his wife, who is also a church musician, Leidenberger came to Dresden in 1994 to serve at the Martin-Luther-Kirche. Here he directs next to the ecclesiastical congregational music groups the
Dresdner Bachchor.
In September 2004, the Evangelisch-Lutherische Landeskirchenamt Sachsens (Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony's Office), in agreement with the Kirchenleitung den Kirchenmusikdirektor des Kirchenbezirkes Dresden Nord (Church Directorship of the Church Music Directors of the North Dresden district), appointed Markus Leidenberger, as Landeskirchenmusikdirektor der sächsischen Landeskirche (National Director of Church Music of the Saxon Church). Effective on October 1, 2004, he succeeded KMD Gerald Bull, who had retired at the end of September. |
