The Israeli-born French tenor, Lior Leibovici, sang at age 11 the role of Miles in The Turn of the Screw by Benjamin Britten. Consequently, he developed a taste for music and theater. He first trained in his native Israel, where he was admitted to a secondary school for the arts and cultural Corps. He then went to France where he studied singing at the Conservatoire Erik Satie (Paris VII) and at the Baroque Music Centre de Versailles. He obtained his Master of Music degree from the Koninklijk Conservatorium (Royal Conservatory) in The Hague, the Netherlands, where he studied since 2004 with Vonda Maria and Peter Kooy. He later studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland.
Thanks to his pure and warm tenor timbre Lior Leibovici performed varied roles from the Baroque and Classical repertoire. He was the Evangelist in the St John Passion (BWV 245) and St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244,) by J.S. Bach, Tirsis in The Imaginary Invalid by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Achille in Iphigenie en Aulis by Christoph Willibald von Gluck, Orpheus in the Underworld by Jacques Offenbach and Aret in Baucis and Philemon by Joseph Haydn.
Lior Leibovici is since 2008 part Cappella Pratensis. He also sings in Profeti della Quinta and in Theleme. He made with his numerous roles many CD recordings. |
