The American naritone, Thomas Lehman, received his Bachelor’s degree in voice from Ithaca College, where he performed roles including The Pilot in the collegiate premiere of Rachel Portman's The Little Prince, Masetto in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Nardo in La Finta Giardiniera, and L’arbre/Le fauteuil in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges. He recently graduated from the Eastman School of Music. A student of Carol Webber, he has worked with coaches and teachers including Benton Hess, Margo Garrett, Martina Arroyo, Graham Johnson, Russell Miller, Jean Barr, and Brian DeMaris. A four time prize winner at the NATS Finger Lakes Competition, he won first place and the Lynne Clarke Vocal Prize at the 2010 Friends of Eastman Opera Competition, as well as first place in the 2012 Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition. He recently won the Encouragement award at the 2013 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in Buffalo, New York.
Thomas Lehman appeared as John Wilkes Booth in Assassins, Count Robinson in Il matrimonio segreto, De Brétigny in Manon, and as Krušina in The Bartered Bride. As a soloist, his concert work includes J.S. Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243), Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) and Kaffeekantate (BWV 211), Orff's Carmina Burana, Maurice Duruflé's and Gabriel Fauré's Réquiem and Ralph Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem and Five Mystical Songs. This past summer (2012), he made his debut at the Chautauqua Opera as a Studio Artist. |
