Hildegard Laurich (Contralto) |
Born: January 15, 1941 - Halle (Saale), Germany
Died: February 11, 2009 |
The German contralto, Hildegard Laurich, studied at the Musikhochschule in Detmold, with Hermann Weissenborn in Berlin, and in private studio of Fred Husler in Cureglia (Switzerland).
From the beginning Hildegard Laurich put the emphasis of her artistic activity on the concert singing. She was an important oratorio singer and made a name for herself in particular as a J.S. Bach interpreter, in addition to other well-known extensive repertoire. On the other hand, she was considered as an outstanding Lieder singer. Concert tours took her to the big cities in Germany, to France, Spain, Portugal, to Switzerland, to Holland, Denmark and to the USA, where among other things she gave a concert in New York’s Carnegie Hall. She sang at the Göttingen Händel Festivals of 1969 and 1971, at the Toledo Festival of 1970 in Spain, and at the 53. NBG Bachfest in Marburg.
On the stage Hildegard Laurich appeared as a guest in some Classical and Baroque roles, among others at the Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, at the opera houses of Rio de Janerio and Mexico City, and in some German theatres.
