The Sweiss-born Spanish pianist, Javier Laso Rovira, received his Bachelor's degree in 1994 from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca in Spain with honors (Premio Extraordinario de Piano). He went on to further his education at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest under the tutelage of Férenz Rados, Rita Wagner and Péter Nagy. He obtained grants from the Escuela Superior Reina Sofia to study with Dmitri Bashkirov and from the Caixa Girona Foundation to study with professor Joaquín Achúcarro. During 1998 he was awarded in different international piano competitions such as "Frechilla-Zuloaga" (Valladolid, Spain ), and "María Canals" (Barcelona, Spain ). In 2002 he won 1st Prize with special mention at the Pedro Espinosa piano competition.
Javier Laso has been guest soloist at international festivals such as Monuments en Musique (France), the Festival de Torroella de Montgrí (Spain), or the Ciclo Internacional de Solistas (Salamanca). On numerous occasions he has also performed as guest artist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla-León with Max Bragado conducting, and with the Bolshoi Theater Chamber Orchestra with Leonid Lundstrem on the podium, venturing into repertoire that includes recent releases of pieces by Couperin.
Javier Laso has recorded concerts for Catalunya Radio and Radio Nacional de España. In recent collaboration with the violinist/conductor José Luis Gómez Rios, he recorded a performance of Spanish music which has yet to be released.
In 2002 Javier Laso began his teaching career at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca and currently he is professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música of Canary Islands. |
