Anna Larsen (Piano)

Born: March 2000 - Needham, Massachusetts, USA

The young American pianist and composer, Anna Milan Larsen, started playing the piano when she was three. Anna has an excellent ear for musicl she has absolute perfect pitch as well as a very good memory; no one else in the family has this ability. Anna started lessons with Fani Liao and Sachiko Isihara at the Suzuki School of Newton. In 2008, she began studying piano with A Ramon Rivera at the New England Conservatory and composition with Alla Cohen. Last fall, Anna was chosen as one of the first three scholars of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation. His mentoring has been fabulous, he has inspired anna and is a role mode for her. Anna has also been mentored by Elena Rossman from the AADGT She now studies piano with Hung Kuan Chen and Tema Blackstone and composing with Martin Boykan.

Anna Larsen is also a two time ASCAP J.S. Award winning composer. At the age of 10, she had composed her first symphony, recorded the first volume of J.S. Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier (BWV 846-869), and had her orchestral debut with the Newton Symphony Orchestra. Her first original symphony had its world premiere with the Newton Philharmonia Orchestra in 2012. In 2008, Anna won second prize in the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition, performing the Winter Wind Etude by Frédéric Chopin. The video spread rapidly on the internet and came to the attention of Lang Lang. He handpicked Anna to be one of the first pianists in his new Foundation dedicated to educating and inspiring audiences and helping young artists. Together, they performed at Town Hall, NYC, Carnegie Hall, Segestrom Hall, Chicago Cultural Center, Millennium Park, Zellerbach Hall, Lincoln Center, and on the Oprah Winfrey show. She collaborated with the first YouTube Symphony Orchestra and the New York International Film Festival performing F. Chopin's etudes with Academy Award winning producer Hugh Welchman in a first-ever performance integrating live music with 3-d film. She has also made numerous appearances in her local community bringing music to schools and the elderly.

In 2012, Anna Larsen was invited to give a series of recitals in Beijing, including three performances at the Water Cube. She recorded this as an album, also available from her website. In March 2013, her new album, J.S. Bach's Well Tempered Clavier Book 2 (BWV 870-893), was released.
