Das Leipziger Concerto Vocale (Concerto Vocale Leipzig = LCV), founded in 1983 by Gotthold Schwarz, specializes mainly in concerts of ancient music The ensemble, comprising twenty-five singers, has travelled a great deal both in Germany and abroad. Together with the Orchestra of Saxony, the Concerto Vocale specializes in Baroque music, using original techniques. They have founded a series of Sunday masses, the Leipziger Kantaten Gottesdienste, following the Protestant ritual of J.S. Bach's rime. The ensemble has been invited in 1994 to take part in the inaugural concert of the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition.
The Concerto Vocale has taken part in numerous radio broadcasts and several records. |
