The Polish tenor and choral conductor, Karol Kusz, graduated from the Akademię Muzyczną w Krakowie (Academy of Music in Krakow) (Class of 2008) in the Faculty of Creativity, Interpretation and Music Education (specializations: Conducting Vocal-Instrumental Ensembles and Pedagogy).
Karol Kusz has gained experience as a singer by collaborating with such groups as the Chór Polskiego Radia (2005-Mar 2014), Capella Cracoviensis (May 2014-May 2019), Chór Narodowego Forum Muzyki (Choir of National Forum of Music), Camerata Silesia, and by collaborating with many outstanding conductors and chorus masters, including: Andrew Parrott, Paul McCreesh, Vincent Dumestre, Marc Minkowski, Stephen Layton, Paul Goodwin, Ottavio Dantone, Fabio Bonizzoni, Christophe Rousset, Diego Fasolis, Ralf Sochaczewsky, Ludwig Wicki, Carlo Rizzi, Sir Mark Elder, Michał Klauza, Maciej Tworek, Jerzy Dybał, Jan Tomasz Adamus, Łukasz Borowicz, Jerzy Semkow, Kazimierz Kord, performing music ranging from the early Middle Ages to contemporary music.
In May 2013, Karol Kusz was invited to create a new, professional vocal group/chamber choir, Cracow Singers, and to take up the position of choir-master and Artistic Director of the group, with which he began to implement his own projects and concert programs. To this day, he has performed with Cracow Singers at numerous festivals in Poland and abroad, collaborating with orchestras, instrumental groups and composers, performing premieres of new compositions.
In July 2017, Karol Kusz founded the Cracow Singers Vocal Institute - a vocal school where he teaches according to his own concept of musical and vocal education. He conducts numerous vocal courses and workshops with groups of different ages, achieving excellent results. On the initiative of the Equinum Foundation, he leads a vocal group composed of inmates of the Zakładem Karnym (Penitentiary) in Nowy Wiśnicz, preparing the group for artistic projects carried out in co-operation with the Fundacji Equinum and the Zakładem Karnym.
Karol Kusz consistently implements his concept of leading the Cracow Singers band, as evidenced by favorable concert reviews and numerous invitations to participate in festivals in Poland and abroad. He currently lives in Kraków, Poland. |
