Pavel Kühn (Choral Conductor)

Born: July 7, 1938 - Prague, Czechoslovakia
Died: January 5, 2003 - Prague, Czechoslovakia

The Czech choral conductor, Pavel Kühn, is the son of Jan Kühn (1891-1958), an important representative of the Czech choir music, the founder of The Prague Philharmonic Choir.

In 1958, when he was only 21 years old, Pavel Kühn founded the Kühn's Choir Prague, continuing the heritage of his father. From the new ensemble, he managed to make a top-class choir of the greatest qualities of music interpretation. These were recognised by both public audience and critiques not only in the Czech Republic, but also in many European countries where the choir was regularly invited. Kühn's Choir Prague has had long-time co-operation with the Czech recording company Supraphon for, which Pavel Kühn worked as a music director for many years.

From 1989 to 1996 Pavel Kühn was also engaged as the chief choir conductor of the Prague Philharmonic Choir, which had been founded by his father.
