Melanie Kreuter (Soprano)

Born: Braunschweig (Brunswick), Germany

The German soprano, Melanie Kreuter, studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover with Charlotte Lehmann, and graduated with master-classes with Ileana Cotrubas. In 1989 she gained the Artists Scholarship of Lower Saxony and in 1992 the 1st prize at the Singing Competition of the Staatsoper Hannover.

After engagements in Stuttgart (Zerlina, Susanna), Darmstadt, Dortmund and Lucerne (all four women's roles in Hoffmanns Erzählungen), Melanie Kreuter came to the Theater Bielefeld, where she is a permanent ensemble member since 2001-2002. She has performed there roles as Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Arabella, Alcina, Violetta in La Traviata, Constance in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Feldmarschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro and in the title role of Verdi's Luisa Miller. She sang the role of Hanna Glawari in Die lustige Witwe at the Theater Bielefeld and at the Aalto-Musiktheater in Essen, among others.
