The American bass-baritone, Sam Kreidenweis, studied at Springfield North in Springfield, Ohio (Class of 2006). He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Dayton (2006-2010) and his Master of Music degree in Opera Theatre Performance from Arizona State University (ASU). While at ASU, Sam frequently performed with the Lyric Opera Theatre performing roles such as Figaro in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Dr. Craven in The Secret Garden, and Cinderella’s Prince/The Wolf in Into the Woods.
Sam Kreidenweis made his professional solo debut with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra in 2008 and returned in 2009 as a soloist in the world premiere of Songs of Rumi by Jeff Olmsted. He is a core member of Skylark Vocal Ensemble in Atlanta (since 2013), The Renaissance Men of Boston, and recently returned from a seven-week tour with the Irish choir Anúna, under composer Michael McGlynn, performing in Ireland (2014), Japan, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
In Phoenix, Arizona he worked with the Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Choraleunder conductor Charles Bruffy. He also sang in the Arizona Bach Festival, Arizona Music Festival, was a member of the Arizona Opera Chorus, and very much enjoyed working with the education outreach program as a Teaching Artist (2013-2014). He was Bass Cantor/Bass Section Leader atSt. Francis Xavier Church in Phoenix (September 2010-June 2012); Singer in Phoenix Chorale (January 2013-May 2014); Staff Singer -Basss at at All Saints' Episcopal Church- Phoenix (2013-2014); Singer at Cincinnati Opera (2013).
Sam Kreidenweis is (relatively) new to Boston having relocated from Phoenix, this past Summer (2012). He ios active in Boston as ensemble and opera singer. Since February 2015, he is Bass Choral Scholar Marsh Chapel at Boston University.
Recording credits include Forgotten Dreams with Skylark Vocal Ensemble, premier works by Michael McGlynn with Anúna, and Sergei Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil with Phoenix Chorale and the Kansas City Chorale under Mr. Bruffy.
Upcoming engagements include multiple tours with Anúna, and concerts with Skylark, the New Jersey based choir Kinnara, The Renaissance Men and, excitedly, joining the Marsh Chapel Choir at Boston University as the Bass Choral Scholar. He curreently lives in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. |
