Andrei Korobeinikov (Piano)

Born: July 10, 1986 - Dolgoprudny, Moscow Region, Russia

The Russian pianist, Andrei Korobeinikov (Russian: Андрей Коробейников), started to play the piano at the age of 5. He began to take music lessons and play the piano in 1991 at the "Rovesnik" Children School of Music (in the classes of Liudmila Kazieva and Alexander Karpukhin) in Dolgoprudny (region of Moscow), where he was born; from 1992 to 1997 he studied at the Central Special School of Music (in the class of Nikolai Toropov) and the Isaac Dunaevsky Children School of Music (in the class of Natalia Sanovich); at the age of 7 he won the 1st prize at the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition for Young Musicians (Khimki and Klin, Moscow Region); from 1997 to 2001 he studied at the Moscow Regional College of Arts (in the class of Eduard Syomin) and graduated with honors; as well since 1998 he has been taking master-classes from pianist Rustem Gainanov; from 2004 to 2012 he was consulting with Igor Nikonovich; in 2001 he entered the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatoire (in the class of Andrei Diev), where he graduated with honors in June of 2006, having received "5+" (maximum of points with the "+") for the final state examination of solo piano recital. Therefore, graduating from the Moscow Conservatoire with honors at the age of 19, Andrei repeated Sergei Rachmaninov's unique achievement of 1892! Afterwards he did a postgraduate course at the same conservatory with the same professor (2009).

In 2006 Andrei Korobeinikov won a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music in London given by Gill and Julian Simmonds and entered the postgraduate course in the class of Vanessa Latarche. In 2008 he graduated with honors from the Royal College of Music in London and was awarded a special prize: the Queen Elisabeth Rosebowl. Nevetherless, unfortunately he could not make it to meet the Prince of Wales, Sir Charles Windsor, on the specified date, to take the Rose Bowl forward to Russia. In 2000 he was elected as a life member of the San-Marino International Academy of Science in the Art Department.

At the same time, in 1998 (at the age of 12) he entered the law faculty of the European University of Law Justo in Moscow, where he has graduated with honours in 2003 as a lawyer specialized in civil law. In 2004-2007 he completed his postgraduate course at the Lomonosov Moscow State University (Department of Civil Law). He has published several articles in Russian law press.

From 1994 to 2006 Andrei Korobeinikov has got more than 20 prizes in different national and international competitions, including: 1st Prize at the 3rd International Scriabin Piano Competition in Moscow (2004); 2nd Prize and the Audience Prize at the Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition in Los Angeles (2005); special prize (a recital in its Great Hall) of the Moscow Conservatory and the diploma for best performance of music by Tchaikovsky at the 13th Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow (2007).

Andrei Korobeinikov gave his first professional solo recital at the age of 8 at the Great Hall of the Baku State Academy of Music in Azerbaijan. Since then he has performed concerts in more than 45 countries of the world, including: Austria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Uruguay, United States of America, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and in many cities of the Russian Federation.

Andrei Korobeinikov was fortunate and honoured to perform concerts with such amazing conductors as Alain Altinoglu, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Douglas Boyd, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Juozas Domarkas, Hobart Earle, Benjamin Ellin, Olari Elts, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Iván Fischer, Thierry Fischer, Matthias Foremny, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Rossen Gergov, Theodor Guschlbauer, Taijiro Iimori, Michiyoshi Inoue, Vakhtang Jordania, Dmitri Jurowski, Okko Kamu, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Vladimir Kiradjiev, Felix Korobov, Dmitri Liss, Mikhail Pletnev, Gintaras Rinkevicius, Alexander Rudin, Kwamé Ryan, Maxim Shostakovich, Leonard Slatkin, Peter Stark, George Tchitchinadze, Yuri Temirkanov, Alexander Vedernikov, Dorian Wilson, Antoni Wit, Kaspar Zehnder, Vladimir Ziva, and others.

Andrei Korobeinikov feels himself as a soloist, but also adores performing chamber music recitals, especially with such miraculous artists as violinists Vadim Repin, Dmitri Makhtin, Regis Pasquier, Leonard Schreiber, Alina Ibragimova, cellists Alexander Kniazev, Johannes Moser, Pavel Gomziakov, Henri Demarquette, Alexander Buzlov, Tatjana Vassiljeva, sopranos Yana Ivanilova, Sarah Pagin, Borodin Quartet, Vanbrugh Quartet, pianists Boris Berezovsky, Frank Braley, Ikuyo Nakamichi, Alexander Paley. He has performed Dmitri Shostakovich's piano-&-trumpet Concerto Op. 35 with such prominent trumpeters as Tine Thing Helseth, Sergei Nakariakov, David Guerrier, Mikhail Gaiduk, and also collaborated for Scriabin's Prometheus Op. 60 with the St. Petersburg State Capella Choir.

Among other orchestras, Andrei Korobeinikov has had pleasure to perform with the Philharmonia Orchestra (London), London Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Sypmhony Orchestra (Tokyo), Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de chambre de Paris, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Lahti, Sinfonia Varsovia, Camerata Bern, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra (Moscow), Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia (Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra), Russian National Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, Moscow Symphony Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, and many other Russian and European orchestras.

Andrei Korobeinikov especially appreciates possibilites for creative collaboration with prominent young musicians, such as conductors Benjamin Ellin, Ilya Gaisin, soprano Sarah Pagin, cellist Nikolay Shugaev, violinist Haik Kazazyan, violists Veit Hertenstein and Sergey Poltavskiy, pianist Pavel Gintov.

During his career Andrei Korobeinikov has appeared in such relevant venues for classical music as Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Linder Auditorium in Johannesburg, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire, Sala Verdi in Milan, Sala Cecília Meireles in Rio de Janeiro, Suntory Hall, Bunkamura Orchard Hall, Sumida Triphony Hall and Hamarikyu Asahi Hall in Tokyo, Symphony Hall and Izumi Hall in Osaka, "Kitara" Concert Hall in Sapporo, Wigmore Hall in London, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in Budapest, Konserthuset in Stockholm,Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden and the Great Hall of the Saint-Petersburg Philharmony. He has performed his concerts at such festivals as La Roque d'Antheron, Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, Festival de musique de Menton and La Folle journée (France), Klarafestival (Belgium), Sommets musicaux de Gstaad (Switzerland), Young Euro Classic (Germany), White Nights, Art-November, Northern Flowers (Russia) and many others. His performances were broadcast by TV channels Arte, Mezzo, Kultura (Russia) and by such radios as BBC-3, France Musique, NDR Kultur and others.

Andrei Korobeinikov recorded discs of works by Scriabin, Dmitri Shostakovich, L.v. Beethoven, Edward Elgar, Grieg on the labels Olympia, Classical Records, Mirare, Naxos. His CD's comprising works by Scriabin (Mirare, 2008) and D. Shostakovich (Mirare, 2012) have been given the most prestigious awards of French musical critics, Diapason d’Or, Diapason découverte and Choc.

Andrei Korobeinikov speaks 3 foreign languages: English, Italian and Esperanto.
