The Dutch conductor, Erik van de Kolk, began his musical training with Elspeets Fanfare Korps (Elspeets Brass Band). He got percussion lessons from Hendry van Loo and later from Wibrand of Norel .At 16, he went to the Zwolle Conservatory, where he studied percussion with Jan Wissink, Jan Roel Hamersma and Peter Prommel. From 2005, he studied conducting with Alex Schillings at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In 2009 he participated in the WMC Lifelong Learning International conductors course in Kerkrade. He attended master-classes with Jan Cober, Danny Oosterman, Maurice Hamers, Gert Buitenhuis, Jacob Slagter, David King, Klaas van der Woude, Tom Brevik, Jose Villaplana and Ivan Meylemans. He also attended master-classes with professional orchestras including the FKKLBW, KMKJWF and Police Orchestra Boblingen (Germany).
Erik van de Kolk is currently conductor of Elspeets Fanfare Korps, Concordia uit Winterswijk, Emergo Castricum and Brassband Rijnmond.
In 2010 Erik van de Kolk finished Cum Laude HaFaBra his conducting studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In April 2011 he won the European Conductors Contest in the Swiss town of Montreux . He not only won the jury prize but also the orchestra and the audience prize. |
