The Italian-born organist and harpsichordist, Peter Kofler, received his first musical education at the Conservatory "Claudio Monteverdi" in Bolzano. In Munich he studied organ and church music with Harald Feller and harpsichord with Christine Schornsheim. While he was still studying, he received a teaching assignment as choir director at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich and became assistant to Hansjörg Albrecht with the Münchener Bach-Chor.
Peter Kofler has performed with leading ensembles such as the Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphonieorchester, Windsbacher Knabenchor, Münchner Philharmoniker, Kremerata Baltica and Chamber Orchestra of Europe and has played under renowned conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Daniel Harding, Thomas Hengelbrock, Heinz Holliger, Mariss Jansons, Krzysztof Penderecki, Peter Schreier and Franz Welser-Möst. He has a close co-operation as organist and harpsichordist with the Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphonieorchester and he is also the harpsichordist of the Baroque Orchestra L‘Accademia giocosa. Among his chamber music partners are Francois Leleux, Christine Schornsheim, Ramón Ortega Quero, Gabor Tarkövi and. As organist or harpsichordist Peter Kofler is a regular guest at international music festivals
In 2007 Peter Kofler was invited as official harpsichord accompanist of the ARD music competition. Since August 2008, he is active as organist at the Jesuitenkirche St. Michael in Munich. The Bücher-Dieckmeyer Foundation awarded him a development grant for the maintenance of church music in Bavaria. In addition, he is Artistic Director of the International Organ Festival Münchner Orgelherbst in St. Michael and and of the Classic Choir Munich. Since October 2010 he is a lecturer in choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich.
Several CD and radio broadcasts (ZDF, BR, RAI, Sony Classical, Tudor, Oehms Classics, Solo Musica, RaumKlang) round out his artistic activity. In May 2010, Peter Kofler recorded his first solo CD with J.S. Bach's Die Kunst der Fuge (BWV 1080) for by the label RaumKlang. |
