The German contralto, Beate Koepp, studied at the Staatl. Hochschule für Musik Köln, and singing in Aachen with Professor R. Bautz. After her final examination in 1992, which she finished with honour, she was in 1992 and 1994 Prize-Winner of the Landeswettbeswebs VDMK. From 1993 to 1997 she was member of the Bayreuth Festival, where she sang the role of Lehrbubens in the new production of Meistersinger von Nürnberg. She continued her musical training with emphasis on Lieder and oratorio by participation in master-classes of Gisela Pohl, Professor Julia Hamari and Ingeborg Danz.
Beate Koepp has made music with the Hamburger Barockensemble, the Aachener Symphoniker and the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. Her repertoire is varied, broad and reaches from the big alto parts of the oratorios, up to rarely played works such as Benjamin Britten (Rejoice in the Lamb), Franz Liszt (Krönungsmesse), and Jan Dismas Zelenka (Krönungsmesse), with which she is a sought-after interpreter all over Germany. Already during her studies she participated in several premiers. She maintains strong interest likewise in the Lieder singing, which she performs both as a soloist, in duet and in quartet. |
