Karl-Heinz Koch (Tenor)

Born: August 16, 1936 - Lobenstein, Thuringia, Germany

The German tenor, Karl-Heinz Koch, was a student of P. Losse in Leipzig and of P.Russ in Dresden.

In 1962, Karl-Heinz Koch made his stage debut in Dresden in the role of Peter Ivanov in Zar und Zimmermann by Lortzing. From 1962 to 1965 he was a member of the Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Dresden and in 1965 was engaged as as a regular member of the ensemble of this opera house. Since then, he had appeared successfully at the Dresdner Staatsoper in a more than twenty-year career. He devoted himself mainly to the character and the buffo roles, but also sang roles such as Steuermann in Fliegenden Holländer. In the celebration performances dedicated to the restored Semper-Oper in Dresden, he appeared as Valzacchi in Der Rosenkavalier. In addition to his stage work, he had a major career in the concert hall as an oratorio and Lieder singer.
