The German contralto, Alexandra C. Kloose, after her exams, began to study first historical music science at the University of her home-town. Then she studied singing Hochschulen für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Hamburg and Munich. She completed master-classes at the Salzburg's Mozarteum and at the International Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival with Christa Ludwig among others.
Alexandra Kloose first had guest engagements with stages in Coburg, Augsburg, Cottbus, Meiningen, Braunschweig, as well as at the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg. Further opera appearances and concert tours led her to Japan and Spain. Consequently apart from the opera singing she has dedicated herself additionally to the concert and oratorio repertoire, and won the "Förderpreis für junge KonzertsängerInnen" (promotion prize for young concert singers). Due to their moving concert activity she has also appeared in co-operation with the Leipzig's Thomaskantor Georg Christoph Biller as well as the baroque ensemble Musica Antiqua Köln. With beginning of the 2000-2001 season she was engaged to the Staatstheater Kassel as alto singer in opera, operetta, musical, Lieder, oratorio and concert performances.
Alexandra Kloose's repertoire includes the following opera roles: Maddalena in Rigoletto, Olga in Eugen Onegin, Erda in Siegfried, Suzuki in Madame Butterfly, Schankwirtin and Amme in Boris Godunov, in Péter Eötvös' Drei Schwestern as Olga, Prinzessin Clarissa in Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen, Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Orpheus in Orpheus und Euridike by C.W. Gluck. Her extensive concert repertoire includes also works as: Symphonies No. 2, No. 3, No. 8 by Gustav Mahler, Ludwig van L.v. Beethoven's 9th Symphony, as well as Messa da Requiem by G. Verdi.
Already at the beginning of her artistic career, Alexandra Kloose had opportunity of co-operating with renowned conductors, such as Anthony Bramall, Adam Fischer, Peter Gülke, Walter E. Gugerbauer, Roberto Paternostro, Marc Piollet, Peter Schneider, as well as with Sebastian Baumgarten, Rosemund Gilmore, Karoline Gruber, Helmut Palitsch, Werner Schroeter.
Since the 2004-2005 season Alexandra Kloose is active as free-lance opera and concert singer. At the Theater Erfurt she sang the alto solo parts in the 3rd Symphony of G. Mahler and J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245). The same season she appeared as a guest at the Theater Bremerhaven as the Third Lady as well as Kabanicha in Leos Janácek's opera Katja Kabanowa. In 2006-2007 she will sing Erda in Das Rheingold at the Opéra national du Rhin Strasbourg. |
