The Gerrman soprano, Julia Kleiter, studied with Professor William Workmann in Hamburg and with Professor Klesie Kelly-Moog in Cologne.
Julia Kleiter made her operatic debut at the Opéra-Bastille in Paris as Pamina in Bob Wilson’s production of Die Zauberflöte conducted by Jiri Kout in 2004. In 2005 she sang concert performances of Daphne on tour conducted by Semyon Bychkov, Pamina in new productions of W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in Paris and Madrid conducted by Marc Minkowski, Papagena in a new production of Die Zauberflöte conducted by Claudio Abbado in Ferrara, Baden-Baden and Modena, Xenia in a new production of Boris Godunov in Florence conducted by Semyon Bychkov and made her debut as Giunia in Lucio Silla by Johann Christian Bach conducted by Theodor Guschlbauer with the Opernhaus Zürich in Winterthur.
Julia Kleiter's 2006 debut in the part of Serpetta in a new production of W.A. Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt in Zürich was followed by two other debuts: Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro in Verona and Reggio Emilia and Celia in W.A. Mozart's Lucio Silla conducted by Tamas Netopil at the Teatro la Fenice in Venice and at the Salzburg Festvial, where she was also heard in Betulia liberata in concert form conducted by Christoph Poppen. At the Edinburgh International Festival she made her debut in the part of Pamina conducted by Claudio Abbado. In 2007 she sang, among others, in Zürich Pamina in a new production of W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, her first Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier and her first Zdenka in Arabella conducted by Franz Welser-Möst and in Florence Amor in Orfeo ed Euridice in concert conducted by Riccardo Muti.
Julia Kleiter ssang in 2008 Pamina in Die Zauberflöte in Zürich, L.v. Beethoven's C major mass conducted by Marc Minkowski in Einsiedeln, pieces by Cherubini and Haydn conducted by Riccardo Muti in Vienna, J.S. Bach's cantatas conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt in Vienna, Paris und Budapest, J.S. Bach’s Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) in Vienna, Orfeo ed Euridice in Paris, J.S. Bach's cantatas conducted by Ingo Metzmacher in Berlin, a new production of L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio (Marzelline) in Ferrara, Baden-Baden and Madrid conducted by Claudio Abbado, George Frideric Handel’s Acis and Galathea in concert form in Göttingen (with a CD recording) and gives her operatic debut at the Styriarte Graz in the part of Ilia in Idomeneo conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Later in 2008 she sang Marzelline in Paris conducted by Sylvain Cambreling as well as a concert tour with Haydn's Schöpfung conducted by René Jacobs, 2009 are scheduled, among others, a song recital in Basel and a new production of Haydn’s Il mondo della Luna conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Theater an der Wien.
As a concert singer Julia Kleiter has performed in Munich, Stuttgart, Stockholm, Los Angeles (with Helmuth Rilling), Ferrara and Berlin (Claudio Abbado), Paris, Toulouse, at the Salzburg Festival and at the Vienna Musikverein (Riccardo Muti), at the Styriarte Graz and on tour in Japan and in South Korea (Nikolaus Harnoncourt), in Naples (Jeffrey Tate). In Lieder recitals she was heard in 2006 at the prestigious Lucerne Festival, in 2007 at the Vienna Musikverein and - with Wolf's Das italienische Liederbuch together with Christoph Prégardien - in several German cities as well as in Antwerp.
Julia Kleiter has recorded R. Strauss' Daphne conducted by Semyon Bychkov, W.A. Mozart’s Requiem conducted by Ralf Otto and Die Zauberflöte (Papagena) conducted by Claudio Abbado. On DVD are available W.A. Mozart’s La finta giardiniera from Zürich as well as Lucio Silla and Betulia liberata from the 2006 Salzburg Festival, Die Zauberflöte (Pamina) and Arabella from Zürich are about to appear. |
