The South Korean-born soprano, Young-Hee Kim, is living now in Barcelona, as Dutch citizen. She made her successful debut in Madrid in the opera Pélleas and Mélisande, together with Victoria de Los Angeles. Following that, she has sung in the most important opera houses in Europe, such as l'Òpera de París-Bastille, De Nederlandse Opera (Amsterdam), Teatro Regio (Torino), Opera Zuid (The Netherlands), Royal Opera de Munt (Belgium), Ópera de Oviedo (Spain), Teatre Regio di Torino (Italy), Gran Teatre de Geneva (Switzerland), Aalto Theater-Essen and Semperoper- Dresden (Germany).
Throughout her career Young-Hee Kim has been working with Charles Dutoit, Herbert Blomstedt, Jean Fournet, Louis Langrée, Edo de Waart, Michel Plasson, Reinbert de Leeuw, Adam Fisher, Hartmut Haenchen, etc. She has sung as a soloist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra (Amsterdam), Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI (Rome); as well as with the most renowned Spanish orchestras, including Spanish RTV, ONE, OBC (Barcelona), Asko / Schönberg Ensemble, Conjunto Iberico, Chamber Orchestra Catalana. She has worked with the choreographer Rudi van Danzig at the Dutch National Ballet, Théâtre Aalto (Essen) and Grand Theatre of Geneva and with director Peter Konwitschny at the Oper Leipzig.
Young-Hee Kim has a unique combination of a wide range, powerful voice with heart-warming deep musicality and an almost provocative, challenging expression with a great acting talent. She was invited as soloist to the St.Petersburg Rostropovich Cello Festival, Bergen Festival, Joensuu Festival and Kuhmon Chamber Music Festival. Young-Hee is considered a specialist of Spanish song repertoire, ranging from early music till today.
