The Korean conductor and organist, Sun-Ah Kim (Korean: 김선아), began her studies of Church Music at Yonsei University in Seoul organ with Professor Kwak. She continued her artistic and educational development at the renowned Robert- Schumann Musikhochschule in Düesseldorf, Germany, where she enrolled for the program of Church Music Choir conducting with Professor Volker Hempfling, Improvisation with Professor T. Laux, Organ with Professor A. Roessler, Orchestra conducting with Professor Herbig. Graduating with a Diploma of 'Church Music’ she continued further with a degree in ‘Choir Conducting’ Diplom at the same institution.
During her studies Sun-Ah Kim engaged actively as Cantor at several Lutherian churches in the Düesseldorf region, while she also participated in a variety of the workshop programs throughout Europe Rome, Bremen, Stockholm etc..
Ever since her return to Seoul Sun-Ah Kim has been active Lecturer for courses of Music Theory, General Bass, Historical Performance Practices and Choir Conducting at Yonsei University as well as at Theological Seminars. As Conductor she has been a leading influence on the ensembles of Bachsolisten Seoul, as well as Collegium Vocale Seoul, ever since they were incepted in 2005, while also acting as vice-conductor of the Korean National Choir. Since April 2016, she is no longer conductor of Bachsolisten Seoul.As Guest- Conducter of the ‘Korean National Choir’ in 2010, she has led a triumphant performance of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah.
