The Dutch conductor and organist, Piet Kiel, got his training at the Amsterdams Conservatorium with organ as main profession. Among his teacher were Jacob Bijster en Dr. Anton van der Horst. He graduated in 1959. Thereafter he continued his musical training with Jaap Spaanderman studying choir and orchestra conducting.
Piet Kiel began his musical career as an organist in Driebergen. He gave regularly concerts in his hompland and abroad. Furthermore he acted as an organist with the former NCRV-Vocaal Ensemble and with the Groot Omroepkoor. In 1965, he was appointed as music school director. Until now he commits himself for the music education at several institutions. In 1961 he was appointed as conductor of the Aalsmeers Koor and every week the members of the choir sang under his inspiring direction. Peaks were, among other thing, TV recordings, concert tours abroad and LP and CD recordings. By his commitment and skillful direction Piet Kiel has reached a high musical level of choral singing with the Koninklijk Toonkunstkoor Aalsmeer and he keeps maintaing it. |
