The Israeli lyric coloratrura soprano, Tali Ketzef, studied vocal performance at the Buchmann-Mehta school of music in Tel-Aviv University. During her studies she performed several roles in Opera and Oratorio, among which are: the First Witch in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Le Feu in L'enfant et les sortileges (Ravel), Valencienne in The Merry Widow (Lehar), Fifth maid in Elektra (R. Strauss), Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss) and Erste Blumenmädchen in Parsifal (Wagner). She also sang soprano solos in Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria and Zoltán Kodály's Missa Brevis. She was the third prize-winner of the Clairmont Academy Singing competition in 2010. In 2011 she completed her Bachelor's Degree with honors.
In 2013 Tali Ketzef performed the role of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto, which was directed by Antonio Petris and took place at Perugia Music Festival in Italy. She participated in the Internationale Opernwerkstatt in Switzerland, leaded by Professor Verena Keller, where she worked with the opera director Peter Konwitschny. In 2014-2016, she was a member of Meitar Opera Studio of the Israeli Opera, where her repertoire included Adele in Die Fledermaus (J. Strauss II), Gretel, the Sand Fairy and the Dew Fairy in Hänsel und Gretel (Engelbert Humperdinck), Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Pamina and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Mademoiselle Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor (W.A. Mozart), Juliette in Charles Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, and Giulietta in I Capuleti e I Montecchi (Bellini).
In 2016 Tali Ketzef made her debut at the Israeli Opera and performed the role of Clorinda in La Cenerentola (Rossini). she also performed with them the roles of An Apparition in Macbeth (2016), Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto in Jerusalem (2016), Girl in Le Nozze di Figaro in Akko (2015). Since 2012 she has been participating in the IVAI, the International Opera Summer Program in Tel Aviv under the artistic direction of Ms. Joan Dornemann of the New York Metropolitan Opera and Mr. John Norris. In summer 2015 she has won 1st prize and Audience prize at the IVAI Competition. She portrayed Violetta Valéry in La Traviata at the IVAI Summer Opera 2016 in Tel Aviv and Gilda in Rigoletto at the Perugia Music Festival 2015.
Tali Ketzef's concert repertoire includes the Soprano sols in W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Great Mass in C Minor and Exsultate, Jubilate, J.S. Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243) and Cantatas BWV 21, BWV 27, BWV 140, BWV 176, A. Vivaldi's Gloria and Magnificat, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, Francis Poulenc's Gloria, Johannes Brahms's German Requiem, Felix Mendelssohn's Psalm 42, C. Gounod's St. Cecilia Mass, John Rutter's Magnificat, Schubert's Mass in G Major, Leonard Bernstein's Chichester psalms and many other works. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra IBA, Israel Stage Orchestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, Raanana Symphonette Orchestra, Meitar Ensemble and Barrocade Ensemble. She has worked under distinguished conductors including David Stern, Emmanuel Joel-Hornak, Francesco Ciluffo, Daniel Cohen,Ronen Borshevsky and David Sebba.
In the 2017-2018 season, Tali Ketzef will perform the role of the First Witch in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) and the role of Frasquita in Carmen (Bizet) at the Israeli Opera. She currently lives in Netanya, Israel. |
