The Polish pianist, Iwona Karasińska-Schlair, began playing the piano at the age of 6 and left the Frederic Chopin Music School in Bytom having passed her exams with honours. She graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice with distinction under the supervision of Professor Klara Langer-Danecka, an eminent Polish pianist and teacher who is a former student of Wilhelm Kempff. After her studies, she perfected her skills by taking master-classes in Duszniki-Zdrój, Weimar, Milan, Szombathely, Bloomington and Geneva. She participated and won many international competitions including those in Usti nad Labem, Athens, Seregno, Monza and Leipzig.
As a pianist Iwona Karasińska-Schlair has performed in Poland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, the USA, Austria and Germany. She has also taught master-classes and individual courses. She has played harpsichord and other historical keyboard instruments for many years and has studied in depth the performance practice of early music from a historical point of view. She now lives in Austria. |
