The Russian bass-baritone and choral conductor, Andrei (Andrey) Kaplanov [Russian: Андрей Капланов], graduated in 2001 from the Music College of the Moscow State Institute of Music named after A.G. Schnittke, specializing in choral conducting. In 2006, he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky; in 2009 - postgraduate study with Professor Kontorovich L.Z. He studied symphonic conducting with Professor S. Dyachenko.
From 2006 to 2010, Andrei Kaplanov taught conducting and choral class at the Moscow State Pedagogical University named after V.I. Lenin. Since 2009, he is choir director and conductor of the Patriarchal Choir of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Since 2010, he is artistic director and conductor of the vocal ensemble "Eidos". Since 2010, he is soloist of the ensemble "Studio of New Music" (Artistic Director: V. Tarnopolsky).
Andrei Kaplanov has peformed leading roles in operas by composers Igor Stravinsky, S. Sciarrino, V. Tarnopolsky, D. Kurlyandsky, B. Filanovsky, A. Syumak, A. Sysoev, V. Rannev. As a soloist, he performed with such groups as: Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra named after U. Hajibeyov (Conductor: R. Abdullayev), Studio of New Music Orchestra (Conductor: I. Dronov), Novaya Rossiya Orchestra (Conductor: E. Bushkov), TIMF Orchestra (Conductor: R. Bon), Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory (Conductors: B. Tevlin, A. Soloviev), Choir of the Moscow Conservatory (Conductor: S. Kalinin), MASM Ensemble (Conductor: F. Lednev, F. Chizhevsky), N'Caged ensemble (Artistic Director: A. Zvereva), Questa Musica Ensemble (Artistic Director: Maria Grilikhes).
From 2011 to 2014, Andrei Kaplanov was a soloist of the Boris Pevzner Choral Theater. From 2012 to 2015, Artistic Director and conductor of the choir of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. In 2013-2015, he taught at the Moscow State University of Culture. |
