Kibbutz Artzi Choir (Choir)

Founded: 1958 - Israel

The Kibbutz Artzi Choir (= KAC) was founded in 1958 and has earned a reputation as one of the best choirs in Israel. Its singers, selected from kibbutzim throughout Israel, meet for intensive weekly rehearsals and weekend gatherings.

The choir performs a diverse repertoire of a-cappella music of various periods and also performs with all major orchestras under the batons of conductors such as James Levine and Zubin Mehta. The choir toured and recorded in countries such as the USA, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, Sweden, Austria, Holland, Lithuania and Latvia.

As of 1990 Yuval Ben-Ozer is the conductor and music director of the choir and in 1994, under his baton, the choir won the prize of the Public Council for Culture and Art for best performance of an Israeli composition. As of 1981 Moshe Harel, a member of kibbutz Bar-am, serves as the choir’s administrative manager.
