The German harpsichordist, clavichordist and fortepianist, Rolf Junghanns, studied college of music with Fritz Neumeyer at the Freiburger Musikhochschule historical keyboard instruments and general bass.
Since 1970 Rolf Junghanns taught historical keyboard instruments and general bass at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. As a specialist for the performance practice of early music on historical instruments, he has appeared in concerts his homeland and abroad, as well as in broadcasts programmes and recordings. With Bradford Tracey, his former student, he formed a duo in 1973 at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. The duo toured Canada and parts of the USA in 1977. They made their debut at Carnegie Recital Hall in a program of four-hand works played on the fortepiano. They made additional tours in Canada and the USA in 1979 and 1981. The duo also gave concerts in several cities in Austria, France, Germany, Holland, Spain, and Switzerland, many broadcast on radio.
From 1987 to 1993 Rolf Junghanns was director of the Friedenauer Kammerkonzerte. |
