The Spanish choral conductor, Josep Vila Jover, studied choral conducting at the University of Barcelona (Class of 1995) with Enric Ribó, Conxita Garcia and Christian Grube.
Josep Vila Jover is the artistic director of the Societat Coral Amics de la Unió, a century-old organization that has an educational project in the form of a music school with more than a thousand students and a consolidated choral project with more than ten active ensembles. In this institution, he directs Veus - Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió, a choir made up of 60 white voices between the ages of 12 and 18, and the Cor de Cambra de Granollers, mixed choir of 40 members. Together with the Cor Jove Amics de la Unió, the three choirs are resident formations at the Teatre Auditori de Granollers since 2017.
Among the awards and recognitions awarded, it is worth noting the Award in the category of young choirs and the Silver Rose Bowl for the best choir of the competition at the Let the Peoples Sing! (2013), the 1st prize at the 47th Toulouse Choral Competition (2015), the position of finalists at the European Grand Prix of Choral Singing (2016), the Guido d'Arezzo Award for the career of Veus (2017), the Josep Awards Anselm Clavé of Choral Singing in Catalonia for the Best recording for Els Colors del Mar (2019) or the Second Chamber Choir Prize at the XLVIII Choral Competition of Ejea de los Caballeros (2019).
These choirs have performed in the regular seasons of Palau de la Música Catalana, L’Auditori de Barcelona and Gran Teatre de Liceu, where they have collaborated with renowned conductors such Edmon Colomer, Jordi Savall, Lluís Vilamajó, Robert King, Manel Valdivieso, Álvaro Albiach, Christian Grube Xavier Puig, Salvador Brotons, Hartmut Haenchen, Josep Vila Casañas, Josep Caballé, Pablo González or Rubén Gimeno. Josep Vila Jover also regularly performs concerts and international tours throughout Europe and, since August 2017, also outside the continent. He is also regularly invited to workshops and international choral singing festivals, such as EUROTREFF 2017 festival in Wolfenbüttel (Germany), the Europa Cantat 2018 in Tallinn (Estonia), where he held a workshop together with the Hungarian director József Nemes, the 6th Encounter of Choirs "El Canto Nos Une" in Colombia in September 2018 or the Missoula International Choral Festival in the USA (2019). |
