The Dutch tenor, Sander de Jong, began singing at the Martini- and Roder Boys Choir where he, first as a boy soprano and later as a tenor, found his love for singing. He graduated with Bachelors degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam studying with Professor Pierre Mak (2011-2016); and received private lessons in Berlin from Professor Robert Gambill (2016-2017). Subsequently he obtained his Master of Music degree in Opera from the Hochschule für Musik Hamburg, where he syudied with Professor Jörn Dopfer (2017-2020). He took part in master-classes with artists such as Camilla Nylund, Helmut Deutsch, Marius Vlad, Michaela Schuster and Alexander Oliver.
During the 2020-2021 and the 2021-2022 seasons, Sander de Jong was part of the renowned Operastudio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf/Duisburg). Here he sang a multitude of roles including Remendado in Georges Bizet’s Carmen (2022), Mercure in Offenbach’s Orphée aux Enfers (2022), Gastone in Verdi’s La Traviata (2022), Normanno in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor (2022), Erster Geharnischter in W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (2021). Harry Frommermann in Comedian Harmonist in Concert (2020) and Der Junge in Da Falla’s Meister Pedros Puppenspiel (2021).
Sander de Jong had guest engagements at the Hamburgische Staatsoper, Nederlandse Reisopera, Theater Kiel, Wadopera Fryslân and the Schlossfestepiele Wernigerode. In the 2023-2024 season Sander will make his debut at the Oper Wuppertal where he will sing the tole of Oronte in George Frideric Handel's Alcina (2024). He will return to the Nederlandse Reisopera where he will sing Erster Richter in Korngold's Das Wunder der Heliane (2023). Furthermore he will return at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein to sing Martin in the world première of Lucia Ronchetti’s Das fliegende Klassenzimmer (2023) and Le Duc in Donizetti’s La Fille du régiment. He currently lives in Düsseldorf, Germany. |
