The German soprano, Vasiljka Jezovšek, studied singing with Klesie Kelly at the Hochschule für Musik Köln. She then spent a year to Royal Academy of Music of London for entering the opera with Valérie Masterson. Currently, the young singer develops her voice with the Dutch teacher Margreet Honig. Vasiljka Jezovsek was finalist in the 52nd Opera Competition of Spoleto; in 1998 she won 3rd prize in the Opera Competition Riccardo Zondai in Rovereto, Italy and she received a special prize for best interpretation of W.A. Mozart at the Klagenfurt Theatre.
Vasiljka Jezovšek began her career as a singer during the time of her her studies, under the direction of conductors as Iván Fischer, Robin Gritton, Thomas Hendelbrock, Helmuth Rilling and Wolfgang Schäfer. She took part in many European festivals, including the Festival of Flanders, Dresdner Musikfestspiele in Germany and the BBC Proms of London. Vasiljka Jezovšek has appeared at the important concert halls of Europe, such as the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, the Royal Albert Hall of London, Schauspielhaus of Berlin and Musikhalle of Hamburg. Tours with the Dresdner Kreuzchor and Collegium Vocale Ghent led her as far as South Africa.
Vasiljka Jezovšek’s concert repertoire, documented on many CD and radio recordings, spreads from the music of the 17th century and the works of J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel and W.A. Mozart to the German and French romantic music. She sang The Creation of Haydn under the direction of Thomas Hendelbrock at the famous festival of Schleswing-Holstein and the J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 105 with Philippe Herreweghe in Proms of London. Vasiljka Jezovšek is also an interpreter of the contemporary music and collaborates with the Mutare Ensemble Frankfurt. In the recital field she has worked with partners on piano as Eric Schneider, Dorothea Oppendorf and Harald Hoeren. The radio of Hesse and Radio France have invited her to sing in programmes of Lieder by Schubert and L.v. Beethoven.
Vasiljka Jezovšek’s future engagements include concerts with Frieder Bernius and Sachsische Staatkapelle Dresden in Hamburg and Dresden, concerts of arias by W.A. Mozart in Berlin and in Antwerp, and a tour in Spain in Paulus by Felix Mendelssohn, the last two series with Philippe Herreweghe. In the opera, Vasiljka Jezovšek performed the title role of Deidamia and Händel in London and sang Musica and Eurydice in Orfeo by Monteverdi in Köln. She was Michal in a stage production of the oratorio Saul at the Händel Festival of Halle. Later in the season, she will appear in Orfeo ed Eurydice by Gluck at the Wiener Festwochen. |
