The American baritone, conductor and teacher, Marc Delano Jenkins, studied from 1973 to 1978 Vocal Music at Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge. He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and his Master of Music degree in Opera from Temple University in Philadelphia. He studied piano with Charles Engel, Myrtle David Singleton; organ with Dr. James E. Hoy; voice with Albert Perkins, Frances Marsh Ellis, George McKinley. He received the Blossom Festival Scholarship.
Marc Delano Jenkins performed as a soloist with Pennsylvania Pro Musica, University of Pennsylvania Collegium Musicum, Temple University Collegium Musicum, Mendelssohn Club Chorus of Philadelphia, W. Russell Johnson Music Guild, Berkshire Choral Festival. He collaborated with: Margaret Hawkins, Elaine Brown, Michael Korn, Franklin Zimmerman, Vance George, Robert Page, Oliviere Di Fabritis, Eugene Ormandy, Tamara Brooks, Gerome Medley, to name a few.
Marc Delano Jenkins could not be placed in one single musical category. He survived as a musician because he possesses the multi talents required to survive in a changing world, and remain on top. During his carreer he performed and worked as as a singer, choral director, organist, pianist, accompanist, composer, educator, administrator.
From 1989 to 2005, Marc Delano Jenkins served as Minister of Music at Mother Bethel A M E Church. In this post he Coordinated with the pastor in service music. Directed adult and youth choirs, accompanied choirs and congregation on pipe organ, piano. Supervised hired soloists and instrumentalists. Provided music for special occasions, including weddings, funerals, local, national and international events. Recently he was Music Teacher at School District of Philadelphia. |
