The Israeli-born conductor and flautist, Itay Jedlin, spent his childhood steeped in music, and appeared as a soprano in several solo roles at the Israeli opera and with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. His discovery of early music and the sound of period instruments was a revelation that led to transverse flute studies with Michael Meltzer and Idit Shemer at the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem. He also studied conducting with Zeev Dorman and took part in conducting workshops with Itay Talgam.
Captivated by the city of Paris, which has been his home since 2002, Itay Jedlin studied with Hélène d’Yvoire and was awarded a premier prix with highest honours at the CNR. His studies continued in The Hague, where he received tuition from Barthold Kuijken, and from Marc Hantaï and Wilbert Hazelzet regularly.
Itay Jedlin frequently plays the transverse flute in a variety of orchestras and groups. His passion for human interaction in chamber music playing led him to develop the collaboration with the violinist Olivier Briant, the viol player Andreas Linos, and the harpsichordist Jean-Luc Ho. In 2006 this core group expanded to become Le Concert Étranger, a larger ensemble with ambitious cultural projects. Jedlin appears in major venues and festivals in Europe, Latin America and Israel. He currently lives in Paris, France. |
