The American bass-baritone, Boyd Jarrell, is a Baroque specialist, who has performed with the California Bach Society, Baroque Choral Guild, American Bach Soloists, San Francisco Bach Choir, and Sonoma Bach Choir. He has toured with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra led by Nicholas McGegan in George Frideric Handel's Acis and Galitea, and is a frequent performer with the Magnificat Baroque ensemble.
Boyd Jarrell is familiar to California audiences from concert and opera appearances with the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Cruz Symphony, the Oakland Symphony, Pocket Opera, West Bay Opera, San Jose Opera, and Schola Cantorum. He first performed L.v. Beethoven's 9th Symphony with Kent Nagano and the Berkeley Symphony.
Boyd Jarrell's unique talent also presents a revival of the troubadour art with a one-man show of English minstrel music. Preparation and coaching for this rare offering was with Martin Best of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and in Paris with Jacques Villisech of the Conservatoire de Versailles. Past projects include touring and recording with the acclaimed conductor Paul Hillier and Theatre of Voices. In addition to his secular art, he serves San Francisco's Grace Cathedral as Cantor and Associate Choir-master.
Boy Jarrell has recorded for the Angel/EMI, Koch International, Gothic, and Harmonia Mundi labels. He appeared onstage with the San Francisco Ballet, singing the music of Brahms in the George Balanchine production of Liebeslieder Walzer. |
