The Japanes baritone, Shigeo Ishino, completed its singing study in Tokyo. After master-classes with Irving Gage he became member of the International Opera Studio in Zurich. He received the Kiwani Musikpreis in 1992, in 1993 he won the Othmar Schoeck Gesangswettbewerb (Singing Competition) in Luzern.
Until 2001 Shigeo Ishino was engaged at the Theatre Basel and sang there roles as Dandini in La Cenerentola, Stolzius in Bernd Alois Zimmermann's Die Soldaten, the title role in Eugen Onegin and Nardo in La finta giardiniera. As a concert singer in demand, appearances led him repeatedly to Zürich, Lausanne, Geneva, Hamburg and France, to the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and to Japan. Since 2001-2002 he is an ensemble member at the Staatsoper Hannover, where he has experienced in numerous Mozart and other roles: Allazim in Zaïde, Papageno into Die Zauberflöte, Nardo in La finta giardiniera and Conte Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro and Masetto in Don Giovanni. Under the musical direction of Shao-Chia Lü he sang the baritone part in the Deutschen Requiem by Johannes Brahms.
in the 2003/2004 season, Shigeo Ishino sang Doktor Falke in Brigitte Fassbaender's production of Fledermaus. Beyond that he sang in Evening Hymn, a scene adaptation of secular and sactred music of H. Purcell. In the 2004/2005 season Beside he will sing Kurwenal. He also sang in January 2005 in in the special concert to the memory of the victims of the national socialism the Kindertotenlieder by Gustav Mahler under the baton of Shao-Chia Lü. |
