The Swesish mezzo-soprano, Lovisa Huledal, started singing at an early age and attended the choir school Adolf Fredriks musikklasser where she also sang in the school's renowned girl's choir. In 2018 she got her master's degree in classical singing from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (August 2016-June 2018); and in 2021 she completed her studies with a master's degree in opera from Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. In 2015 she lived in Milano, Italy where she studied a semester as an Erasmus student at Conservatorio di musica Giuseppe Verdi (March-June 2015). She currently studies with Swedish court singer Anna Larsson. She has recieved scholarships from the Royal Academy of Music in Sweden, Östgöta Gille in Stockholm, DAAD (Gemany), Drottningholmsteatern Vänner, the Marthe Urzander & Lars-Olov Nyhlén fund as well as the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. In 2021 she recieved the Christina Nilsson scholarship and the same year she became semi-finalist in the Helmut Deutsch Lied Competition in Vienna. In 2020 she represented HfM Karlsruhe at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb in Berlin and was a semi-finalist in the international competition DEBUT in Weikersheim, Germany.
Lovisa Huledal mainly works in Sweden as a freelance singer within opera, Lied and sacred music. She perfomed roles include Mrs Grose in Benjamin Britten's The turn of the screw, Zita in Puccini's Gianni Schicci, Isabella in Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri and A in the world premiere of the opera Glashaus by Marc D. Ferrum. Studied roles include Dritte Dame in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Orfeo in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, Olga in Tchaikovsky's Eugen Onegin.
In 2022, Lovisa Huledal debuted the role of Yelena Popova in Skånska Operan's production of William Walton's opera The Bear with performances in Malmö, Helsingborg and Kristianstad. In the summer of 2022 she sang the role of prince Arieno in Vadstena-Akademien's production of the opera Il colore fa la regina by C.F. Pollarolo, an opera that recieved it's world premiere in modern times since it was first written for and played at the opening of the Venetian carnveval in the year 1700. In August she was also invited as a soloist together with Norrköping's symphony orchestra conducted by Garbriella Teychenné.
Since her opera debut in 2022 Lovisa Huledal has perfomed several roles ranging from early Baroque to contemporary music, working with Folkoperan, Opera på Skäret, Vadstena-Akademien and Skånska operan. Moreover, has she in 2023 also worked at Confidencen (Ulriksdal palace theatre) with the opera group Den Andra Operan as well as at the Royal Swedish Opera, both for workshops.
In the beginning of 2023 Lovisa Huledal jumped in to sing the role Claire for the workshop of the new opera Melancholia by Mikael Karlsson at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. In May she worked with Den Andra Operan in a staging workshop of the opera La liberazione di Ruggiero dall’isola d’Alcina by Francesca Caccini and in the summer she made her Verdi debut as Maddalena and Giovanna in Rigoletto at the international opera festival Opera på Skäret. In the autumn Lovisa was engaged at Folkoperan in Stockholm as the song soloist in their new production of Tidens Larm, based on the novel The noise of time by Julian Barnes. Paralelly, Lovisa was as well engaged as the cover for Angelina in Rossini's Cenerentola, also at Folkoperan.
For the of 2023-2024 season, Lovisa Huledal is part of Folkoperan's Young Talent Programme where she is engaged in several productions, thereamong the acclaimed production of Tidens Larm where she is the song soloist. Tidens Larm returns to the stage in May 2024 due to public demand.
Lovisa Huledal performed oratory repertoire include among others W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Monteverdi's Vespro della Beata Vergine, Haydn's Stabat Mater, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Camille Saint-Saëns' Christmas Oratorio and Maurice Duruflé's Requiem as well as a number of J.S. Bach's works, icluding Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Johannes-Passion BWV 245 and Mass in B minor BWV 232.
With the extensive choir background and a strong passion for ensemble musicianship she also has sung with ensembles such as the Swedish Radio Choir, Eric Ericson Chamber Choir, Drottningholm castle theatre's opera ensemble and Vokalharmonin. She currently lives in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. |
