Jana Hruby (Soprano)

Born: Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

The German lyric soprano, Jana Hruby, remembers the beginnings of their career: "The music and singing were my first love since childhood, my mother had a beautiful voice and even brought me closer to early classical music." After his first appearances in the school choir and a school band, she already gained over 16 years of stage experience in a dance band music. Then she studied classical singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig from 1998 and graduated in master degree with honours. She also attended master-classes with Brigitte Fassbaender and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. She was a finalist in several international competitions and was awarded the Bayreuth Scholarship of the Richard-Wagner-Verbandes and the Master-Class scholarship of the Free State of Saxony.

Jana Hruby has sung at opera houses in Halle (Saale), Leipzig, Meiningen, Erfurt and at the Komischen Oper in Berlin, among others. As a concert singer she has worked with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, Philharmonischen Staatsorchester Halle and has performed in Italy, Poland, Spain and France.

After an engagement at the Theater Brandenburg, Jana Hruby has worked freelance since 1999. More concerts and guest appearances led Jana Hruby including the Händelfestspielen in Halle (Saale), Brixener Musiksommer to the Oper Leipzig and Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Komischen Oper in Berlin, Tonhalle in Düsseldorf and Musikhalle in Hamburg. She also appears on the stage with her own operetta and musical programs..

Numerous radio and television recordings reveal the versatility of the soprano.

Engagemnents

In 1994 , Jana Hruby began her collaboration with the Philharmonischen Staatsorchester Halle. Numerous opera and concert roles, including Das Rheingold by Wagner and Dido and Aeneas by Purcell and L.v. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. In 1995 she had guest engagement at Theater Gera and in 1996 at Theater Görlitz. From 1996 to 1999 she was engaged at the Theater Brandenburg with many big roles, and also had guest engagement at the Komischen Oper in Berlin.

Since 1999 , Jana Hruby has worked freelance, with guest engagements e.g. at the Theater Meinigen, Theater Erfurt, Theater Braunschweig, Staatsoperette Dresden and Oper Leipzig. In 2001 guest engagement at the Staatstheater Meiningen as Wellgunde and Ortlinde in Der Ring des Nibelungen. In her hometown of Leipzig, she first captured a sensation with comic roles, such as Serpina in Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s La serva padrona, Vespetta in Pimpinone by Georg Philipp Telemann and Dorilla in Johann Adolf Hasse’s Die listige Magd. Since 2003 until today she has performed numerous leading roles in the musical comedies of the Oper Leipzig, for example The Princess in Vogelhändler, Angele in Graf von Luxemburg, Eurydice in Orpheus in der Unterwelt, Helena in Die schöne Helena, Bronislawa in Der Bettelstudent, Regine in Hochzeitsnacht im Paradies, Julia in Der Vetter aus Dingsda and many others.

Jana Hruby has also participated in many concert and gala performances, e.g. at the Stadthalle Hamburg, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Kölner Philharmonie. Philharmonie am Gasteig München, Kaisersaal Erfurt, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Oper Leipzig, Operettenball Marriott-Hotel in Leipzig, Medizinerball Kongresshalle in Leipzig. In 2011 and 2012, she has numerous concert performances with operettas, sound films and musical melodies, etc. at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Rose Monday concert with the Neuen SalonOrchester Leipzig, New Year's concert with the Salonorchester Cappuccino, gala events, guest starred in the musical Show Biz at Oper Leipzig
