Roshini Herat (Piano)

Born: 1966 - Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan pianist, Roshini Herat, was attracted to the piano from her earliest childhood by hearing her grandmother play. Her parents noticed her talent early and encouraged her. Adolescent, she made a name in her native country playing recital for radio and television, before winning in 1985 the first prize of the National Piano Competition organized by the Alliance Française at the end of which she was awarded a scholarship to come to Paris. She received her first advice from Marie-Françoise Bucquet, but her decisive encounter was with Theodor Paraskivesco, teacher, then Professor at the CNSM de Paris, who encouraged her to make a career as a pianist.

For many years, Roshini Herat gave recitals, has played in chamber music and with orchestra. Despite the extent and diversity of her repertoire and because her culture kept her rom any noisy demonstration, she strives to bring out the uniqueness of each work. Her concerts are rigorous, lively and inspired.
