The American choral conductor and organist, Myles Hayden, firststudied music with his grandfather, a former Lutheran Minister of Music. His secondary studies include a Bachelor of Music in Church Music (Organ Performance) from Valparaiso University (2013-2017), where he studied under Dr. Lorraine Brugh. In addition to his studies there, he worked in various music positions at the Chapel of the Resurrection including the student conductor of the Kantorei and coordinator for the Sunday Night Vesper services. After Valpo, he received a Master of Sacred Music degree from the University of Notre Dame (2017-2019), which included studying organ performance with Dr. Craig Cramer and a fellowship to work as the graduate assistant of the internationally televised Notre Dame Liturgical Choir where he helped direct and accompany the choir and played masses for the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. His choral conducting professor was Carmen-Helena Téllez.
Myles Hayden most recently served as the Kantor at Grace Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. Currently he is the Director of Music Ministries at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and School in Frankenmuth, Michigan, where he serves as the principal organist and director for both adult church ensembles and the middle school choir. He continues to perform in recitals, favoring to play the organ works of Bach, Buxtehude, and Reger. |
