The English soprano, Amy Haworth, studied music at Trinity College, Cambridge as a choral scholar under the direction of Richard Marlow.
Since then Amy Haworth has developed the reputation of a highly acclaimed consort singer working with many of the country’s leading vocal ensembles including The Tallis Scholars (Director: Peter Phillips), The Cardinall’s Musick, Consortium, Ensemble Plus Ultra, Cambridge Singers (Director: John Rutter) and Synergy Vocals. Her first Tallis Scholars concert was in September 2005. She was a last minute replacement for a performance of Spem in Alium at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Her first full concert with the group in France followed in July 2006.
In regular demand as a soloist, her voice has been described as ‘ravishing’ by BBC Radio 3’s CD Review. Recent performances have included W.A. Mozart’s Mass in C minor, J.S. Bach's B minor Mass (BWV 232), St Matthew Passion (BWV 244) and St John Passion (BWV 245), L.v. Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Johannes Brahms’ Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Verdi’s Requiem and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solonnelle.
Increasingly in demand for her work in contemporary music Amy Haworth has been involved in numerous premieres and distinguished projects including the UK premiere of Luigi Nono’s celebrated Prometeo at the Royal Festival Hall and in 2009 her BBC proms solo debut in George Crumb’s Ancient Voices of Children. As a member of Synergy Vocals she has worked closely with the luminary composer Steve Reich since 2005.
