The Austrian tenor, Christian Havel, studied solo singing with Gerald Trabesinger at the Brucknerkonservatorium in Linz, and Lied and oratorio with Thomas Kerbl at the Brucknerkonservatorium in Linz and with Norman Shetler Vienna University of Music. He attended master-classes with Kurt Widmer, Robert Holl, David Lutz, Roger Vignoles and Kammersängerin Gundula Janowitz.
Christian Havel was from 1996 to 1998 member of the Vienna State Opera Chorus with solo engagements and now works primarily internationally with oratorios and passions, but also in Lieder recitals and opera performances. He has appeared at the European Weeks in Passau, at the Gmunden Festival, the Mozart Festival in Saou (France) and in many other European countries. Appearances as a tenor soloist have taken him with the Brucknerorchester Linz under Heinrich Schiff, the St. Florianer Sängerknaben and the Wiener Sängerknaben, the 1. Österreichischen Frauenkammerorchester, the Baroque Ensemble "L'Orfeo", the Baroque Orchestra Ars Antiqua Austria, the NÖ Tonkünstlern, the Heinrich Schütz - Ensemble Passau-Vornbach, the "consilium musicum Wien" under Paul Angerer and the Chorvereinigung St. Augustin, Wien. He was heard at the "Jungen Oper Oberösterreich", as Count Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and at the Mozartwochen in Bad Hall as Tamino in Zauberflöte and as Belmonte in Entführung aus dem Serail. In 2002 he participated in the world premiere of the opera sub pontius pilatus by Erling Wold (San Francisco). |
