The German consuctor, Michael Hartmann, was already as a high school a student of Professor Franz Lehrndorfer in Munich. After leaving school he studied at the Musikhochschule München organ with Klemens Schnorr and Rose Kirn, piano with Vera Cech, harpsichord with Ulrike Schott and church music at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He also graduated from the University of Munich in a philosophy and theology studies, for which he awarded the degree of Dr. for theology.
After several years as a church musician and accompanist with the Münchner Philharmoniker, Michael Hartmann was appointed in 1989 as a lecturer at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich, where he now heads the department of church music and organ. Foir the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, he works as an organ expert.
Michael Hartmann is music director of the Bürgersaalkirche in Munich and artistic director of the choir and orchestra of the Odeon-Ensemble München. In the church year 2002-2003 he was acting organist in Munich. Numerous recordings on LP/CD, radio and television stations document his artistic work. He has also a busy international concert career, distinguished by its broad repertoire and improvisation.
As a soloist (organ and harpsichord), Michael Hartmann has played inter alia at festivals in Italy (Rome, Orvieto, Viterbo, Lecce), Austria, Poland (Oliva), Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Sendai, Saporro). In 2000, he played a concert series "800 Years Organ Music", and in 2001 in 12 concerts, the complete organ works of J.S. Bach. For the Bavarian television, he appeared in several productions for the series "Stationen," and in 2007 "Steine vom Himmel" (monasteries and their music in the Donau-Ries).
