Roland Haraldson (Conductor)

Born: July 19, 1955 - Stockholm Sweden

The Swedish conductor, Roland Haraldson, began studying medicine, mathematics and musicology at the Uppsala University. Later he studied ensemble direction at the Music Academy in Stockholm (1984-1986); arrangement and composition at the Music Academy in Stockholm (1986-1988); orchestral conducting in the class of Professor Jorma Panula at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm (1988-1992).

Roland Haraldson has conducted a number of Scandinavian orchestras and choirs, including several Sjællands Symfoniorkester, Randers Byorkester (Randers Chamber Orchestra), Radiokoret (Radio Choir), Århus Sommeropera (Aarhus Summer Opera Festival), and Ars Nova, Malmö among others. He has also conducted the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, Szombathely Symphony Orchestra in Hungary, and Moravian Symphony Orchestra. He directed several Danish choirs, such as Corona Vokalensemble, Terpsichore, Molina Chamber Choir, Danish Radio Choir and Chamber Choir of Denmark. At the opera he has conducted Les Miserables and Tordenskjold (both in Copenhagen), Marriage of Figaro, Magic Flute and Don Giovanni.

Since 1995 Roland Haralsdson teaches choir conducting at the Royal Academy of Music. He is the Artistic Director of Fredensborg sommeropera (Frederick Summer Opera) in Denmark.
