Emmanuelle Halimi (Soprano)

Born: August 12, 1970 - France

The French soprano, Emmanuelle Halimi, obtained her DEUG in Musicology at the l’Université Lumière Lyon II,, and her graduation Diploma at the CNR de Lyon, in the class of Catherine Maerten. She then enrolled at the class of Marie-Cécile Milan, and got Gold Medal in piano accompaniment. Then she was a student of class Margreet Honig which she finished with 1st Singing Prize at the CNSMD de Lyon. Then she was an intern at the Atelier Lyrique de L'Opéra National de Lyon under the direction of Alain Durel.

Since 1994 Emmanuelle Halimi is a member of the Solistes de Lyon (Director: Bernard Tetu). She was a member of the Solistes du Concert de L'Hostel-Dieu (Director: Frank-Emmanuel Comte). She sings as a soloist in various concerts, including Leçons de Ténèbres under the direction of Martin Gester, performed at La Chapelle Royale du château de Versailles, as part of Journées Couperin. She sang a chamber music program with Les Arts Florissants and Berlin Orchestra (Schubert, W.A. Mozart) in Berlin. She was guest soloist at the Festival of Wroclaw (Musical Directors: Martin Gester and Alexis Kossenko, orchestra: Arte di Suonatori) and the Festival of Brezice (Slovenia).

Emmanuelle Halimi performed the roles of Aurora, Nisa and Euridice in La Morte d’Orfeo by Landi, under the direction of Françoise Lasserre at Utrecht Baroque Music Festival. She is also a member of the Choir of Le Concert d'Astrée (Director: Emmanuelle Haïm), for J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245), staged by Bob Wilson at the Théâtre du Chatelet. She performed, among others, the role of Belinda in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, a production of the Festival d'Ambronay, conducted by Christophe Coin, staged by Pierre Alexandre Jauffret; the role of Gaelle in L'Oracle de Voyage (composed by Pierre Alain Jaffrenou for the Opéra National de Lyon), staged by Michel Rostaing; the role of Climène in Les Divertissements de Versailles, a show around Lully, conducted by William Christie and staged by Mireille Larroche. The latter was also recorded. She also performed the role of Proserpina in Orfeo by Monteverdi, with the Nouveau Studio de Opéra de Lyon, conducted by Philip Pickett; and Celui de l’Ogresse in Pollicino by Henze, at the Theatre of Valencia with the Maitrise de l'Opéra de Lyon (conducted by Alejo Perez, staged by Christophe Perton).

Emmanuelle Halimi is Professor of vocal technique and directs vocal ensembles at the Centre de la Voix Rhône-Alpes. Since 2011 she also works at Festival d'Opérettes in Lamalou-les-Bains; since september 20124 she is choir director at Ecole de musique d'Ecully.
