Béatrice Haldas (Soprano)

Born: February 8, 1944 - Genève, Switzerland
Died: December 12, 1987 - Nyon, Canton of Genève, Switzerland

The Swiss soprano, Béatrice Haldas, graduated from the Université de Genève (Romance languages and philosophy). She studied singing with Arturo Merlini in Milano and Juliette Bise in Berne.

Béatrice Haldas made her lyric soprano debut at the Théâtre Municipal de Berne in 1973. She was a member of the troupe of the Théâtre Municipal de Berne (1977-1979) and the Hamburgische Staatsoper (1979-1985), then independent artist. Some of her most important roles include Micaela in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Cleopatra in George Frideric Handel's Julius Caesar, Fiordiligi in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Zerline in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, the Countess in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Ilia in W.A. Mozart's Idomeneo, Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Antonia in Les contes d'Hoffmann, Mimi in La bohème and Liù in Turandot. She performed on stage and in concert notably in Amsterdam, Lausanne, Lucerne, Rome, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Vienna and Zürich.
