The Canadian mezzo-soprano, Patricia Green, received the prestigious Artist Diploma in Voice and the George Castelle Prize from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with Phyllis Bryn-Julson.
Patricia Green has gained international acclaim for her expressive voice, noted for three-octave ease in extremely diverse repertoire. A noted chamber music and oratorio singer, she has appeared in halls such as the Concertgebouw and the Kennedy Center with L'Orchestre de Radio-France, Dutch Radio Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, at MUSICA (Strasbourg), Posthoornkerk Concerts (Amsterdam), Continuum (London), Library of Congress Concerts, Bethlehem Bach Society, Toronto Symphony Orchestra's New Music Festival, the USA National Holocaust Museum Chamber Music series, Toronto's Opera in Concert, Vancouver New Music, Washington Choral Arts, Wolf Trap Festival, Scotia Festival of Music, and the Michoacan Tri-National Arts Festival, Mexico. She is a member of Theatre Chamber Players of the Kennedy Center. Conductors she has appeared with include Péter Eötvös, Reinbert de Leeuw, Pascal Rophé, Leonard Slatkin, Leon Fleisher, Zoltan Pesko, Sir David Willcocks, J. Reilly Lewis and Gustav Meier
Patricia Green toured Canada, France and England in the opera, Kopernikus by Claude Vivier. In May 2001, she premiered two new oratorios for the opening of the Terrace Gardens of the Bahà'i Faith in Haifa, Israel with the Northern Israel Symphony. Recently she sang an acclaimed performance under the baton of Pierre Boulez in his work Pli selon pli at the CBC Gould Studio in Toronto. At the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, she sang cantatas arias and duets of J.S. Bach with Philharmonia Virtuosi and soprano Rosa Lamoreaux and Igor Stravinsky’s Les Noces at the Cornell University Stravinsky Festival.
Opera roles performed include Dido, Adalgisa, Ruggiero, La Principessa, Second Lady, and Anne Boleyn. As an avid performer of contemporary music sought after by composers, she has worked with internationally renowned composers and sung their works: G. Ligeti, Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio, P. Dusapin, Schwantner, Arnold Schoenberg, Wuorinen, R.M. Schafer, M. Eggert, R. San, L. Schwendinger, A. Goehr and Weir and has given many premieres of the works of young composers.
Her performances have been nationally broadcast on TV and radio in Holland, France, Israel, Germany, Canada and the USA. She has recordings on Newport Classics, Albany Records, and Live Unity Productions. On Albany Records she has Käthe Kollwitz by Tom Myron (voice and string quartet) on the CD entitled Darkness and Light: Vol III. Her CD of the J.S. Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach 'Magnificat' (BWV 243) with the Washington Bach Consort is available on Newport Classics. Recently released on Albany Records is Dreaming – Songs of Lori Laitman.
