Ruth Gomme (Soprano)

Born: England

The English soprano, Ruth Gomme, was a choral scholar at Queen’s College, Cambridge, and went on to study with Kenneth Bowen at the Royal Academy of Music, where she won several major prizes.

Since graduating Ruth Gomme has sung with a number of acclaimed vocal groups (including the BBC Singers, the Cambridge Singers and the Monteverdi Choir), touring widely in Britain and Europe. As a soloist she has appeared on German and Dutch television, and made a number of broadcasts for BBC Radio, most recently (1999) in the role of La Statue in Rameau’s Pygmalion with The English Concert under Trevor Pinnock. Oratorio engagements have included J.S. Bach’s Magnificat (BWV 243) in the Queen’s Elizabeth Hall, W.A. Mozart's Mass in C minor in Guilford Cathedral, and Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem with the London Festival Orchestra.
