The Polish organist, pianist and conductor, Karol Gołębiowski [Golebiowski], studied at the Conservatory of Warsaw with Joachim. Grubich, the at the Geneva Conservatory with Lionel Rogg, and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Herman Verschraegen. He was a prize-winner at the international organ competitions in Nuremberg, Linz, Bruges, Munich, Speyer and Rome, which established his international reputation and marked a beginning of a brilliant career.
Since then Karol Gołębiowski has performed in all the countries of Europe, in the Middle East and USA and has been invited to play by all the major festivals, in particular the Festival of Flanders, Bergen, Berliner Festwochen, Besançon, Beyrouth, Bratislava, Brussels, Copenhagen, Cracow, Geneva, Helsinki, Linz, Lausanne, London, Luzerne, Magadino, Manchester, Milano, Moscow, Munich, Nuremberg, Oliwa, Oslo, Paris, Rome, St. Louis, St. Maximin, St. Petersbourg, Stockholm, Vienna, Warsaw, Zürich...
Among Karol Gołębiowski's numerous recordings are the complete organ works by J.S. Bach (twice), Johannes Brahms and W.A. Mozart as well as the works by Nicolaus Bruhns, Dietrich Buxtehude, François Couperin, Franck, Franz Liszt, Felix Mendelssohn, Messiaen, Max Reger, Reubke, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and others.
Since 1991 Karol Gołębiowski has been an Artistic Director of the ”European Organ Festival”, organising concerts in about 50 cities in 14 european countries. |
