The Austrian keyboardist, Philip Goeth, fell in love with J.S. Bach's music at very young age. His parents had a record of the Goldberg Variations (BWV 988), and as a child he used to listen to it again and again, every time with growing interest and fascination. This interest had lead him to study music at the Vienna University for Music (then: Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst) in his early years as an adult, focusing on J.S. Bach's music, but with deep interest also in the music of L.v. Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Frédéric Chopin and Skriabin. Later, his professional direction changed to other fields, but since he retired from his business activity as a lawyer and consultant in 2011, he reorganized his life in order to focus on musical analysis and recording.
Given that he is working on understanding and playing J.S. Bach's Well-tempered Clavier since more than 30 years, he wants to share both his experiences and his latest recordings on the matter. That‘s what gave him the idea to develop the website J.S. Bach's Well-tempered Clavier. The content of this website is growing continuously, and he expects to finish the comments on Book 1 by spring 2013. |
